Let's start this month off by sharing with you some secrets... Finally on Spotify, this hitherto hidden collection of "secret" Rebirth recordings is now available to all. These obscure tracks were recorded between 1990 and 2004, and the collection was originally compiled in 2011. Although very rickety and primitive there is something intriguing and resonant about these recordings, from the unexpectedly emotional instrumental version of "Natalie" to the out-there late-night experimentation of "I Want To Run Away From The World", from the semi-cringe/semi-based sixth form observations of "Public NME" to the minimal lo-fi dub of "Judgment Day". One for the serious collectors and enthusiasts, if there are any ;-)
JJ Lacey continues his winning streak with the heavy new single "Resonator".
Meanwhile our good friend Neil Young keeps the beats coming with another awesome set of summer madness!
Mix Of The Month: kicking off with one of the best intros ever (nice one, Ganja White Night!), "Agenda 21" hopefully stacks up as a hard-hitting, thought-provoking set that combines weighty bass propulsions, weighty geopolitical themes AND weighty emotions. This multi-faceted mix travels far within a short timespan, even including a very sneaky appearance of one of those "secret" Rebirth tracks referred to above! "Agenda 21" also features tracks by Chase & Status, The Fear Ratio, Tipper, Ondubground and a fair few more...

First up this month, we say a hearty congratulations to our good friends The Streetlight Walkers on the release of their eponymous fourth album. The record features a has-to-be-heard-to-be-believed "rockstar" version of the PCP track "Pseudo Science" featuring the stunning guitar work of Ben Whitton.
Next up, it's the brand new single from JJ Lacey!
JJ Lacey returns with a marathon two-hour chillout set, comprising 100% original material!
Mix Of The Month: a very nice, mellow and tender set of mainly ska and lovers' reggae, but with a few gentle pop and soul gems thrown in towards the end to make it less of a pure genre exercise, and more of a free-flowing personal journey. Regardless of style, all these songs tug at the heartstrings one way or another!
Here's my first new DJ set for far too long, this time going on a mission deep, deep underground. Featured artists include Langenberg, Ion Ludwig, Vega, James Dexter, Maxwell and loads more...

Change is the only constant, and April has very much been a month of moving things around behind the scenes, having a good ol' spring clean and housekeeping blitz, in preparation for a busy summer ahead. In particular, our weekend playlists have been updated with a whole load of new electronic sounds for your listening pleasure!

Talking of electronic music, Paul @ MetaSparks and I took our fifth deepdive into the groundbreaking 1979 Sparks album "No. 1 In Heaven". This episode looks into the "uneasy listening" loungetronics of the epic song "My Other Voice" and what it tells us about the world! Quite a bit actually...
Another brand new set direct from the South Coast this month. Here's Neil Young with yet another slab of irresistible deep and funky house. Prefect for those sunny evenings!
This month's dispatch from the South Coast brings us two new sets from Justin Nicholas, one from the world of progressive trance, the other from the world of house. Something for all the family!
There is now an official Rebirth Universe mailing list, so drop us a message if you'd like to be kept updated with all that's new here!

Mix Of The Month: a fun and unorthodox set of various styles of 128bpm (ish) dance music. It twists and turns its way towards a minimal techno climax, featuring artists such as Caravan Palace, Matmos, Cornelius, George Fitzgerald and loads more.

The clocks have just changed which means it's officially British Summer Time. Why not touch grass and listen to Rebirth Radio in the park! Justin Nicholas provides the perfect set to usher in the sunshine vibes.

Talking of clocks, Paul @ MetaSparks and I have once again put our heads together, this time to dissect every beat, blip and breath of Sparks' 1979 hit "Beat The Clock". In our longest and most detailed confab yet, we take a deepdive into the music, lyrics and background of the song. As always, we welcome your own thoughts and ideas!
Mix Of The Month: You want some of this??? Here's a rollockin' ride for lovers of all things hard and fast, showcasing both the fluffy and fearsome! Things start "angelic" and gradually turn more "demonic", before Good takes on Evil for the grand finale. Featured artists include Bas & Ram, BK & Nick Sentience, Paul Glazby, Lab 4 and loads more!

Well, here we are then, the year 2525 AD. Whodathunkit? And there's pretty much only one story in town this month: the long, long, long awaited delivery of the "In Space" vinyls woop woop!

You can read the full saga in preceding entries: the TL;DR of the whole thing is that the manufacturing plant went bankrupt in the days before delivery of our records, leaving them sat in a warehouse in Amsterdam for weeks, potentially facing the skip! However, at the very last minute an investor stepped in to rescue the company. After a final few calls to finalise delivery, the shipment finally made it to the UK.

Fittingly for the debut Highway 62 LP, the final leg of its long journey home saw the pallet transported from the depot in Manchester to Rebirth HQ in Leeds, via the very stretch of high-altitude M62 that inspired the album in the first place!

With "The Dub Assignment" having caused an explosion in the record plant, and then the whole place going bankrupt during the manufacture of "In Space", it's a wonder our records made the journey in one piece. We were half expecting to hear that the lorry had shed a trailer load of our records all across the carriageway.

Now that would have led to one helluva jam...

Anyway, what doesn't kill us makes us stronger. The records are here and they sound absolutely MINT! NB These are Limited Edition LPs, with a few small changes from the digital release. We hope they become valuable, highly-sought after collectors' items!

Just one other bit of news this month: the third instalment of MetaSparks and myself chatting about the "No. 1 In Heaven" album. For this episode we turn our attentions to the absolutely brilliant song "La Dolce Vita".
Mix Of The Month: not just one, but twenty Mixes of the Month to kick off the New Year. We certainly don't do things by halves! In fact, the Alpha State Live sessions took place over the late summer / early autumn of that wonderful year 2020 (gallows humour).
There was a rather arcane formula to this series: ten two-part 26-track sets, each accompanied by a single-part 13-track taster set. Each part of the 26-track sets would include three songs from the accompanying taster set. In addition, the first part of each 26-track set would also include one track each from both the first and second parts of the preceding 26-track set.

Quite why these ridiculous rules were put in place is between the DJ and the decks, but they were adhered to religiously! The sets were all recorded directly from the Rebirth Radio live stream, which strictly speaking places them outside Ad Rebirth "canon"; but as a standalone 30 hour collection of hard dance and psytrance beats, it's a pretty damn definitive compendium.
